Excursion 3 - THE OTHER PRAGUE CASTLE: CULTURALLY-HISTORICAL WALK THROUGH VYŠEHRAD

Guide of excursion: Doc., RNDr. Miroslav Marada, Ph.D.

This excursion will bring you to the mythical castle of Vyšehrad, the second and less known Prague seat of rulers. We will visit the relics of the Romanesque era of Vyšehrad when it was the seat of the first Czech king, Vratislav II. The exposition in Cihelná brána (Brick Gate) will show us the era of the Baroque fortress. We will walk through the Baroque fortress corridors (so-called casemates) and in the Gorlice Hall, we will be able to have a detailed look at several original statues from Charles Bridge. The excursion will end with a late afternoon visit to the National Cemetery Slavín – here, we will talk about the life and work of several famous Czechs. Everything will be interspersed with many uncommon views of the city and the river.

For administrative reasons, the number of participants in each excursion is limited to 30.
