Guide of excursion: Doc. RNDr. Karel Nesměrák, Ph.D.

Our excursion will start at the subway station Malostranská; we will take the tram No. 22 from there to the station Brusnice. We will watch the slightly nontraditional skyline of the Prague Castle from the Baroque city walls and you will learn something about the alchemists who worked there. Then, we will step down into quaint and mysterious New World. Among other things, we will have a look at the „Golden Rukh“ house where the Danish astronomer and alchemist Tycho Brahe lived. Through the Capuchin Street, we will go to the Loreta square, where we will recall the history of the Capuchin Baroque monastery pharmacy and the manufacture of the miraculous Capuchin balm. We will continue through the Loreta Street until we reach the Carmelite Cloister. After mentioning its 355-year-old inhabitant, hon. Marie Elekta, we will go down the City Hall Stairs to Neruda Street where we will learn about the alchemists who worked there. We will walk to the former „Golden Lion Pharmacy“ and then we‘ll go down the stairs to the Jan Hill. After we learn about the alchemistic history of this place and its surroundings, we will finish our walk in the Museum of Old Prague Alchemists and Mages.
